Setting Up Stripe Connect for Payments v1.0.0

Learn how to connect your Stripe account to receive payments from customers using your SLYD infrastructure.

What is Stripe Connect?

Stripe Connect is a comprehensive payment platform designed for marketplaces and multi-party payment scenarios. It allows SLYD to facilitate secure payments between customers and providers while maintaining compliance and security standards.

Step 1: Access Stripe Connect Setup

Navigate to your provider dashboard and locate the Stripe Connect section on the left-hand navigation bar to begin linking your Stripe account.

Step 2: Start Stripe Account Connection

If you haven't connected a Stripe account yet, you'll see an option to "Connect with Stripe". This will initiate the Stripe Connect onboarding process.

Account Verification

Stripe requires identity verification to comply with financial regulations. You may need to provide:

  • Personal information (name, address, date of birth)
  • Business information (if applicable)
  • Bank account details for payouts

Step 3: Complete Stripe Onboarding

Clicking "Connect with Stripe" will redirect you to Stripe's secure onboarding flow. This process typically takes 5-10 minutes to complete.

Business Information

Provide your business details, including legal name, address, and business type.

Personal Information

Enter personal details for identity verification, including SSN or tax ID.

Banking Information

Add your bank account details where you want to receive payouts.

Security & Privacy

All information provided during onboarding is handled directly by Stripe's secure systems. SLYD never stores sensitive financial information like bank account numbers or SSNs.

Step 4: Account Status and Completion

After completing the onboarding process, you'll return to your SLYD dashboard where you can view your Stripe account status.

Account Status Indicators
✅ Account Complete: Ready to receive payments
⚠️  Pending Review: Additional information may be required
❌ Action Required: Complete missing verification steps

Your account status will display one of the following:

  • Complete: Your account is fully verified and ready to accept payments
  • Pending: Stripe is reviewing your information (usually takes 1-2 business days)
  • Action Required: Additional information or documentation is needed

Step 5: Understanding Payouts

Once your Stripe account is active, payments from customers will be automatically processed and transferred to your bank account.

Payout Schedule

  • Biweekly automatic payouts once account balance reaches $10
  • 2-day settlement period for new accounts
  • Weekends and holidays may affect timing

Processing Fees

  • Stripe's standard processing fees apply
  • SLYD platform commission is separate
  • No setup or monthly fees

Troubleshooting Common Issues

If you encounter issues during the setup process, here are some common solutions:

Common reasons for verification failure:

  • Mismatched personal information
  • Poor quality ID photos
  • Business information doesn't match records

Solution: Double-check all information for accuracy and resubmit with clear, high-quality documents.

Stripe Connect may not support all bank types:

  • Prepaid cards are not accepted
  • Some regional banks may not be supported
  • Business accounts may require additional verification

Solution: Use a major bank checking or business account, or contact support for alternatives.

Stripe onboarding links expire after a certain period:

  • Links are valid for 24 hours after generation
  • Incomplete onboarding sessions may timeout

Solution: Return to your SLYD dashboard and click "Complete Stripe Onboarding" to generate a new link.
